INSTITUTE TEACHER ADMINISTRATION
Institute teachers and supervisors play an important role in administering their stake program. Careful and accurate recording allows for effective ministering to take place. Priesthood leaders rely on the information you record to make informed and inspired decisions.
WISE (Worldwide Institute and Seminary Enrolments) is an internet-based student record system which allows teachers, priesthood leaders and S&I coordinators to see the progress of students enrolled in Institute. All teachers are expected to enter student attendance and make-up work in WISE.

To use WISE and CANVAS, you will need the following:
Church Account. Without this username and password, you will not be able to get into WISE.
Your Stake Clerk needs to enter you into LCR (the Church's membership record system) as an Institute instructor under "Callings".
You will need a computer with an internet browser. If you have problems, use Firefox or Google Chrome. These browsers can be downloaded free.
PREPARING FOR THE END OF TERM:
At the completion of each Institute term, teachers are required to do the following:
Complete all marking of student attendance in WISE on the last day of term.
Identify students who are close to completion and encourage them to complete make-up work.
Ensure student reading is recorded accurately in WISE.
Complete the Credit tab in WISE for your class.
NOTE: Send or email a list of the students attending your class in the first week to your Administrative Assistant. They will ensure they are enrolled in your class. If you have new students, come to class throughout the semester, ensure they either enrol online, or record their names and send through to the
S&I office.
Since the deep learning of discipleship is more likely to occur when a student completes a course (including the reading and ELE components), students should be encouraged to choose a course and complete it, rather than shifting through a variety of classes in the same term.
Make up work is required when a student’s attendance percentage goes below 75% in a given term if they would like to obtain credit for the course. When makeup assignments are required, they should be given to bless and not punish the student.
For Institute students, we encourage the submission of journal responses to questions in the relevant lesson material missed. Students are permitted to
complete makeup work to clear or remove an incomplete grade and receive credit for Institute courses. Makeup work, determined by the teacher, should be
related to the work missed, be meaningful and realistic, and require effort similar to those who attend regularly. Students should be encouraged to complete
courses as an act of discipleship and deep learning. Teachers decide if the makeup work is acceptable.
