The purpose of class visits is to provide support to teachers and students, to ensure the institute program is run according to S&I policy, and to motivate and help teachers grow in their capacity to teach in the Saviour’s way. As you observe teaching and student learning, look for positive examples of the following elements of the S&I objective:
Share positive feedback to teachers on how you can see them striving to teach in the Saviour’s way. Provide examples from their lesson. This will reinforce the S&I objective but also motivate them to continue to make these principles a priority in their teaching.
Always ask teachers what areas they would like support in to help students have relevant experiences of belonging that deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ. Record the needs they share or ones you identify through your observations and then follow up by sharing relevant training resources with them. You may also like to plan your stake faculty councils to respond to common needs you identify across classes.
You can find many supporting resources for teachers via topic through the Teaching in the Saviour’s Way training library in Canvas or on the Teach website.
Try to have an ongoing plan to support teachers and help them grow. It can be as simple as recording the following for each teacher:
• Current Needs
• Support Provided
• Follow Up
