Sometimes situations arise without warning.
Floods are among the most common natural disasters. They can be caused by spring rains, heavy thunderstorms, cyclones, winter snow thaws, or dam failures. Floods can be slow- or fast-rising, but they generally develop over a period of days. Dam failure is the most life-threatening of all floods. In a situation of flooding, shut off utilities if the situation warrants it. Secure valuables if there is time. Evacuate to higher ground.
Cyclones and Tidal Waves may affect both coastal and inland areas. Shut off utilities if the situation warrants it. Secure valuables if there is time. Keep individuals in the safest areas of the building. Evacuate when it is safe to do so.
