Skill Practices 2: Use the Scriptures in Your Teaching.
The scriptures contain God’s words and can have a powerful effect on those who read them. Using the scriptures in our teaching is an effective way to help others come unto Jesus Christ.
Personal Scripture Sharing
Have students share their favourite scripture and explain why it is so important and what the truth has helped to guide and find strength in their lives. How can the chosen scripture help me learn more about Jesus Christ and his roles, attributes and character?
Skill Practices 3: Teach People How to Pray.
Many of the people missionaries teach lack experience with prayer. “Inviting people to pray is one of the most important invitations you can extend as a missionary” (Preach My Gospel [2023], 43).

Skill Practices 4: Ask Inspired Questions.
Missionaries often ask questions to those they are teaching. Asking good questions can help missionaries “understand people’s interests, concerns, and questions. Good questions can invite the Spirit and help people learn” (Preach My Gospel [2023], 190).

B. Staying Organised with Goals and Plans + Accomplish the Work through Goals and Plan (Ch. 8 PMG) + Setting Goals and Managing Time (Ch 3 – Gospel and PL)
Many people struggle with setting goals and managing their time effectively. Help students understand how goal setting and wise time management can improve their lives and also help them better serve others.
Use the scheduling tools you were given in Preach My Gospel. Study chapter 8, “How Do I Use Time Wisely?” These tools have been carefully developed for missionaries and will help you accomplish your purpose. Focus on one thing at a time, and don’t get overwhelmed.
“When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported, the rate of improvement accelerates” (quoted by Thomas S. Monson, “Thou Art a Teacher Come from God,” Improvement Era, Dec. 1970, 101).
Seek Christlike Attributes (Ch 6, PMG)
The Lord has also called you to His work, and He also invites you to follow Him. “What manner of men ought ye to be?” He asked. “Verily I say unto you, even as I am” (3 Nephi 27:27).
Some chapters in Preach My Gospel focus on what you need to do as a missionary, such as how to study, how to teach, and how to set goals. Just as vital as what you do is who you are and who you are becoming. That is the focus of this chapter.
